Junior "B" winning streak halted

Douglas 1-3 Ballinora 0-7 (Junior "B" Football League)

Fieldng a very under strength team, we lost our unbeaten run which stretched back to April 2009 when going under to a very fit Ballinora side by the narrowest of margins in round 3 of this year's league.

The strong wind which favoured Ballinora in the first half was the deciding factor. They had us on the back foot for most of the opening half at the end of which they led 0-5 to nil.
We fell seven points behind early in the second half before Robbie Collins raised our chances with a great goal. This was our first score for 45 minutes play. We took over for the rest of the game and as it drifted into injury time only a point separated the sides,

We had chances to win it but didn't take them. Douglas forced a last minute 45 which our goalkeeper David Dorney took. He was told he had to score direct but his effort dropped into the square and was cleared.

Philip O'Doherty was magnificent at wing back for us and was ably assisted by Padraig Quinlan, Cormac Cahill, Ronan McCarthy and Richard Harris.
Next game is away to Dripsey on Sunday, March 14 at 11.30 a.m.

A win is crucial with the 2009 Seandun Cup final coming up on St. Patrick's Day.
