Junior "B" footballers impress in challenge
Douglas 1-13 Carrigtwohill 0-03
Junior "B" Football Challenge
The Douglas Junior “B” footballers travelled East to take on Carrigtwohill in a challenge game. This proved to be a worthwhile exercise for both teams and Douglas played at a pace that justified the strenuous winter training regime instigated by the management. In front of goal keeper Denis O’Sullivan, Brian Kenneally was one of the outstanding performers in a Douglas defence that also included the evergreen Cormac Cahill and Denis Collins. Ian Bermingham caught the eye in the Douglas half forward line and kicked several points while Robbie O’Connell and Philip O’Doherty junior were also prominent.
Patrick Scannell was another to impress scoring a first half point and demonstrating great efficiency and vision when linking up with his team mates. Shane Kingston and Mark Lucey were a handful for the Carrigtwohill defence throughout the second half while Eanna Mulrooney capped a brilliant performance in the full forward line by fisting a Kevin O’Mahony delivery to the net to seal Douglas’ win.
