Under 16 hurlers impress
Douglas under 16 hurlers defeated Carrigtwohill 2-18 to 1-9 in the county league. The East Cork side fielded a very young team. Nevertheless, the score of 2-18 by the Douglas lads was very impressive.
Sean Collins was very impressive at centre back while Eoin Dolan played a sweeper role and was very effective. Douglas upped the ante after the break with Martin Barry scoring freely. Alan Cadogan was a constant thorn in the side of the Carrig defence. Both Kevin Hayes Curtin and Sean Fogarty also delivered very workmanlike performances.

On Friday 24th July the Douglas Junior "B" hurlers face Glen Rovers in the championship. Under the guidance of Pat Harrington, John O´Keffee and Brendan Larkin the Douglas lads have prepared thoroughly all season but Friday nights game represents a very tough challenge.

Injuries to Paul Beale and Shane McDonald proved costly. The second half was dominated by Na Piarsaigh who won on a scoreline of 3-17 to 2-09.

Return of trophies
During the past fifty years and more many families have generously donated trophies to the club in memory of deceased members of Douglas G.A.A.
The hurling and football committee is currently attempting to trace and recover several trophies that have gone missing during the past few decades. With this in mind it is appreciated if you could dig up your old trophy collection and should you come across one of the missing trophies please drop it off to one of the committee members.

Minor championship game abandoned due to poor weather
A mist began to descend during the first half of the minor hurling championship match between Douglas and Blarney on Thursday 2nd July. By half time conditions at the Mayfield venue had deteriorated and five minutes into the second half the referee was left with no choice but to abandon the game.
Max McGrath scored a first half goal for Douglas, Martin Barry pointed a few long range frees and Alan Cadogan was very impressive in the half forward line. Details of the rescheduled game will be posted on the club web site shortly.
