Junior "B" hurlers too good for Brian Dillons
Thursday September 10th: Douglas 2-11 Brian Dillons 1-9
This was the first outing since the championship seven weeks ago and it showed particularly in the opening half. Players were going through the motions and this was reflected on the scoreline as Dillons led 1-4 to 0-5. The selectors pointed out at half time that the display was not good enough. To be fair the team upped their performance.
Douglas host Cork camogie teams home coming celebrations
Following their magnificent win over Kilkenny in Sunday's all-Ireland senior final, the Cork Camogie team were welcomed backed to Douglas G.A.A. Club on Monday night. The club was packed with well wishers as team captain Amanda O'Regan and her team mates paraded the O'Duffy cup.
Other prominent Douglas members among the Cork contingent were selector Mick O'Regan amd players Pamela Mackey, Katriona Mackey and Julia White. The celebrations culminated with a presentation of a bouquet of flowers to Mrs. Pauline Downey in recognition of her role in the foundation of Douglas Camogie Club.

Douglas under 16 hurlers defeat Bishopstown
The under 16 hurling team defeated Bishopstown on Tuesday night in Mahon to qualify for the Premier City Final to be played next week against the winners of Blackrock / Na Piarsaigh. The final score was 2-12 to 0-14 in favour of Douglas. Douglas played with the elements in the opening half, they were the better team but were not putting away the scoring opportunities presented. Two well taken goals by Alan Cadogan changed the complexion of the game with 2-6 to 0-4 interval lead.
Under 21 hurlers suffer championship defeat
On Sunday morning (30/08/09) Douglas played Na Piarsaigh in Ballinlough in the under 21 hurling championship. Douglas started with a strong fifteen that included goal keeper Patrick Scannell, full back Pat O’Neill, a half back line consisting of John Collins, Colm Lucey and Theo Cullinane, Ian Bermingham at midfield, centre half forward Odhrán Mulrooney and full forward Mark Collins.

Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship Semi-Final
Quite rightly there was a positive vibe radiating from the G.A.A. fraternity in Ballincollig entering this game, following their recent under 21 football championship triumph and the parts played by Cork footballers John Miskella and Pa Kelly in dethroning Tyrone last Sunday. However, their optimistic mood derived substance from the impressive quarter final win over Tracton which set up this semi-final showdown with Douglas.
Minor footballers suffer championship defeat

Na Piarsaigh delivered a powerful display to blow Douglas away in last nights minor championship at Passage. From the throw in the northside team were clearly unwilling to settle for second best and even though they faced a stiff breeze, they led by a goal at the interval.

36 years old former Cork footballer Donal O'Callaghan would happily agree that even in his prime he was not a prolific scorer, but last night at Ballinlough the veteran pushed forward to drive over the equalising point with the last kick of the game to save his team mates blushes.
Douglas Junior “B” footballers record stunning semi-final win
Douglas came out on top after a fiercely contested battle with Ballyphehane last Saturday evening to claim a place in the final of the Junior “B” football championship. Eyebrows were raised among the Douglas contingent at Ballinlough by the addition of experienced duo Billy Dorney and Joe Lynch to the backroom staff for the game and they were joined on the sideline by selectors Henry Grimes, John O’Keeffe, Fred Humphries, Brendan Larkin and John Grimes.

Milford travelled to Douglas on Friday and played their part in a high scoring contest that kept the supporters of both sides entertained. Douglas were short several of the first fifteen that started in the championship quarter final against Watergrasshill. However, this provided Finbarr Bermingham with the opportunity to experiment and assess the prospects of some of his squad.
