Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship
Douglas came up trumps at the second time of asking at Cloughduv on Friday evening at Cloughduv in the first round replay of the Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship. Douglas kept faith with the starting fifteen from the drawn encounter but were forced into a change when wing back Richard Harris was forced off injured mid way through the first half.
Douglas Junior "A" hurlers suffer c'ship defeat
08/06/2009: Douglas 1-07 Glen Rovers 0-26
Glen Rovers deserve credit for being in red ho form at Ballinlough on Monday night to beat Douglas in the first round of the Junior "A" hurling championship. This was a repeat of last years final with the Glen again triumphant.
Douglas' goal arrived before half time and was scored by Fionnán O'Sullivan. However, this did not stop the Glen from holding a commanding seven points interval lead. By the final whistle the Glen had more than justified their status as favourites to retain the title.
Junior "B" Hurlers advance in C'ship
14/06/09: Douglas 4-14 St. Vincents 0-4 (Junior “B” Hurling Championship)
Douglas displayed very impress form to defeat St. Vincents and get their championship campaign off to a great start in Ballinure last Sunday morning. This year John O’Keeffe and Brendan Larkin pulled off a major coup by bringing in Pat Harrington to administer the coaching and this has clearly paid dividends. The Douglas players hurled with great confidence and their first touch was of a standard that made a mockery of their Junior “B” status.
Douglas & Youghal end level in hurling championship
19/06/2009: Douglas 2-08 v Youghal 2-08 (Premier Intermediate Hurling Champonship)
On 28th June 2008 these two sides served up a thrilling high scoring contest in Carrigtwohill which ended on a scoreline of 3-13 to 2-16. This years clash was a more tense affair which left the spectators at the Lisgoold venue waiting until the final moments for an outbreak of drama to rival last years encounter.
Junior "B" hurlers' good form continues
The Junior B hurlers defeated Belgooly 1-16 to 1-9. Douglas started in whirlwind fashion scoring 0-4 without reply. The South East team got the next three scores. Douglas finished strongly to lead 0-10 to 0-5 at the break. Playing with the wind Belgooly got two early points.
Douglas dug deep and scored some excellent points to fashion a very positive result. Brian Kennealy is showing great form as is newcomer Tom Ryan. One very positive aspect of the game was the spread of the scores, with no great dependency on any particular player.
