Winning start for Junior "A" footballers
15/02/2009: Douglas 1-08 v St. Nick’s 1-05 (Junior “A” Football League)
The Junior “A” football league campaign began positively for Douglas at the Glen Field on Sunday morning courtesy of an impressive victory over St. Nick’s. Douglas started with an experienced line up that included Paddy Barry at centre half back, Conor McCarthy, John Paul Kiely and John O’Keeffe, while John Farrell currently being rested remained in reserve in the event of an emergency.

Victory for Junior "B" Footballers
29/03/09: Douglas 1-10 Bishopstown 3-03 (Junior “B” Football League)
This year a five man management dream team is masterminding the Douglas Junior "B" football teams challenge for trophies and this comprises of Henry Grimes, Brendan Larkin, Fred Humphries, John Grimes and John O'Keeffe. Last Sunday morning they travelled to Bishopstown and guided the Douglas team to another satisfying victory. Injury robbed them of star centre half back Roy Corbett and so to compensate for this loss the Douglas selectors were forced to reshuffle their defence.

Ryan's SuperValu to Sponsor Hurlers
Last Saturday morning (04/04/09) Ryan's SuperValu in Grange presented Douglas G.A.A. Club with a set of jerseys to mark their sponsorship of the Intermediate hurlers for the 2009 season. Representing Douglas were club secretary Eamonn Dorney, team manager Finbarr Bermingham and players Frank Tobin and Eoin Cadogan.

It has been a great few days for Douglas footballers. On Saturday evening Douglas defeated Bishopstown by 2-10 to 2-06 in the Minor Premier Football Championship. Then, this evening in the Senior Football Championship Naomh Abán were beaten 1-07 to 0-8. It was far from a classic but first round games are all about winning and Douglas showed a lot of character to grind out a win when the game looked lost.

The U14 footballers continue their bid to win 3 in a row Feile titles with a hard fought victory over Mallow at Rathcormac on Wednesday night. The game was on a knife edge throughout and had to go to extra time to produce a winner, Douglas edged it on a scoreline of 3-13 to 3-11 after 80 minutes of tremendous football.
Kelleher Shield defeat for Douglas

After an entertaining contest Nemo Rangers got the better of Douglas in the Kelleher Shield game played on Thursday evening in Douglas. Despite being short several regulars Nemo Rangers forged an early lead which they maintained to half time. From a Douglas perspective, Stephen Bermingham's goal was the highlight of the opening period.
Senior footballers bow out of championship
Doheny's advanced to the next round of the senior football championship with a one point victory over Douglas at Cloughduv on Sunday afternoon.
It was a disappointing contest as both sides struggled to dominate in greasy conditions but Dohenys just about deserved the victory. First half points from Fearghal O'Sullivan, Shane McCarthy and Neil Heffernan had Douglas level at the break but it was not enough given that the strong breeze favoured Dohenys for the second half.
Douglas Junior “B” footballers record stunning semi-final win
Douglas came out on top after a fiercely contested battle with Ballyphehane last Saturday evening to claim a place in the final of the Junior “B” football championship. Eyebrows were raised among the Douglas contingent at Ballinlough by the addition of experienced duo Billy Dorney and Joe Lynch to the backroom staff for the game and they were joined on the sideline by selectors Henry Grimes, John O’Keeffe, Fred Humphries, Brendan Larkin and John Grimes.
